How did the Scholarship come about?

Kurt expressed a desire to return to college and become a teacher after his career as a professional racer was over. He had a passion for working with kids and helping them build confidence and skills. Kurt's sister, Carolyn, who was already a high school English teacher, wanted to find a way to honor her brother's memory and help other racers pursue their own "Plan B" after their racing days were over.

Together, Carolyn and The Foundation worked to establish the Kurt Caselli Scholarship fund, which would be awarded twice a year to racers who were enrolled in higher education programs. The funds would go directly to the institutions to help cover the costs of tuition and other expenses. Since its inception in 2015, the scholarship fund has awarded 55 scholarships to deserving recipients.

In 2023, the scholarship amount was increased and limited to two recipients per term. This adjustment reflects the continued commitment to supporting racers who are pursuing their dreams beyond the racetrack and ensuring that Kurt's legacy lives on. Through the scholarship fund, many individuals have been given the opportunity to achieve their educational and career goals, and the foundation is proud to continue to provide this support for years to come.

We know that Kurt would be so proud of this effort!
